Lanie & Spencer: A Love Story

How did your love story start?

We met in 2009 at the Back to the Bricks car show in Flint, Mich. We were friends for several years, but we didn’t start dating until August 2012.

When did you know you wanted to marry him?

I knew I wanted to marry him after we’d been together for about a year and a half… and then I dropped hints for about three years.

How did he propose?

In 2017, we went to the Thunder Over Michigan Air Show in Ypsilanti on Labor Day. At the show, they had the Yankee Warrior, which is the last B-25D bomber plane to have seen combat (particularly during WWII) that’s still flying. They were offering rides, and Spencer asked me to take a walk while he had a chat with the main fellow. I figured he was haggling over the high cost of tickets, but the next thing I know, he’s getting a ride back to our car to get his wallet. Then, the time comes to go for our ride. We line up with the other guests, and the pilot says the two of us would be riding up front. At this point, I’m oblivious to what’s happening… I just thought we were lucky! But, while we were in the cockpit and up in the air, Spencer asked (well, shouted… as we had to wear noise-canceling headphones) if I wanted to see something cool. I looked at him, and he had the most gorgeous engagement ring I’d ever seen. I’m not sure I said yes. I just took the ring and put it on.

Tell us about your engagement ring.

It’s a custom-made ring. The main stone is marquise style with a diamond twist band.

Do you have a wedding date / place?

We’re getting married November 10, 2018 at the Paint Creek Country Club in Lake Orion, Mich. Our color scheme is navy blue and burgundy, with accents of gold.

Congratulations to Lanie and Spencer, from the entire Tapper’s team!
